Review: River Marked by Patricia Briggs

River Marked: Mercy Thompson, Book 6 - Lorelei King, Patricia Briggs

River Marked is one of the most interesting, exciting books in the wonderful Mercy Thompson series. For the first time in the series, readers get a large dose of Mercy's Native American heritage. I found the story rich with fascinating tales and riveting details about the natives who inhabited the land long before the werewolves, fae, and vampires.

The story begins with discussion of a wedding, leading to one of the most romantic weddings ever (and so perfectly fitting for the couple). Adam and Mercy beginning their honeymoon with hopes of spending some much deserved time away from it all; however, soon enough they find themselves in the middle of a deadly and dangerous situation. Along the way, Mercy finds out much about her background, including more about what it means to be a walker AND more about her own father.

In addition, Mercy and Adam have finally found their place in my heart. I've always been on board with the pair as a couple, but there wasn't much of an emotional connection. This time around, I found that the couple had that extra something that made them special. They are more relaxed around one another and free with their affections. I love that they accept each other for who they are, and are good sharing that with each other. All of these parts together made River Marked one of my favorite books in the series.

As per usual, the narration by Lorelei King is sublime - an A+.

My rating: A, loved it!
